I juat purchased a Nuvi 1490T and I was wondering if there is a compatible media player program that can be installed for this model,,,(mostly for mp3's).

There is no way to install third party software on a Nuvi. Period. It's a closed system. If you really want a GPS which can do this, consider selling the Nuvi and getting a unit based on Windows CE. These include Navigon, Mio, Magellan, HP and others. These can all be "unlocked", allowing you to install Windows Mobile and Windows CE applications such as movie players. You can generally download complete packages (skins) which users have put together just for this sort of thing.
So even though we can add data, a 3rd party media player is out of the question? (sorry if this just refrases your statement but I want to make sure)
