How to install the "Mapsource - UnLocked" for CN Aust NZ 201

Sat Sep 25, 2010 11:14 am

Hi - I've downloaded the "Mapsource - Unlocked" version of City Navigator Australia and New Zealand NT 2011.20 but I need instructions on how to make it install into Mapsource.

I have 2 PC's, one XP and the other Vista. MapSource is version 6.15.7 on both.

I found these instructions on the post about the 2011.10 version of the map:

Windows XP
Copy "City Navigator Australia and New Zealand NT 2011.10.gmap" folder into
%APPDATA%\GARMIN\Maps (or something like that all other languages)
OR
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\GARMIN\Maps (or something like that all other languages)

Vista and windows 7
Copy "City Navigator Australia and New Zealand NT 2011.10.gmap" folder into
%APPDATA%\GARMIN\Maps (or something like that all other languages)
OR
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GARMIN\Maps (or something like that all other languages)

I've tried the above but the map does not appear in Mapsource after a re-boot.

I'd like to get the map installed as it may improve on the same version that was made using GMapTool to make an image file load into Mapsource. This installed OK but the map does not show in MapSource until it reaches the 50km scale, even on Highest Detail setting.

Any help to get the 2011.20.gmap installed would be great thanks.

I know how to select map products thanks. The issue is I'd like to improve on the 2011.20 map I have at present (created by using GMapTool on a gmapsupp.img file) as the map disappears beyond the 50km zoom level, even with Highest Detail selected. Are there any instructions for installing the "Mapsource - Unlocked" file available at http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?2681-City-Navigator-Australia-and-New-Zealand-NT-2011.20?

just like you say above

Windows XP
Copy "City Navigator Australia and New Zealand NT 2011.20.gmap" folder into
%APPDATA%\GARMIN\Maps (or something like that all other languages)
OR
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\GARMIN\Maps (or something like that all other languages)

Vista and windows 7

Copy "City Navigator Australia and New Zealand NT 2011.20.gmap" folder into
%APPDATA%\GARMIN\Maps (or something like that all other languages)
OR
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GARMIN\Maps (or something like that all other languages)

this is folder not files like....eg. %APPDATA%\GARMIN\Maps\City Navigator Australia And New Zealand NT 2011.20.gmap\

Sorry, I don't understand the instructions. How do you find the Allusersprofile or Application Data on the horrible Vista system? I have hidden file showing.

On XP it's easy to find C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data but where on earth is the correct place on Vista?

Will simply placing the folder in the right place make the map install into MapSource? Very confusing.

At last, found something (it's actually a friends Vista computer, horrible thing):

C:\Users\__ name removed __\AppData\Roaming\GARMIN\Maps

So I've pasted the entire folder into the Maps directory, restarted computer but nothing installed. Any other tips? Thanks.

Still can't find %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GARMIN\Maps (hidden folders are showing). Logged in as Administrator. Thanks anyway for trying to help.

if there is not %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GARMIN\Maps

vista
you must go %ALLUSERSPROFILE% and create GARMIN\Maps

xp
you must go "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data" and create GARMIN\Maps

Thanks for your patience - I eventually found it at: C: Users > All Users > GARMIN > Maps

Restarted and something must have worked because the map is visible at all zooms. Thanks again.

I'm quite happy to stick with version 6.15.7 at present. Are there any advantages in going to a later version? Yes, the original question is solved thank you.

6.15.7 is good choice it is fast and error free...
