How to: on a Garmin Nuvi.......

Fri Mar 09, 2012 2:06 pm

Hi all,

I have read the tutorials - and wanted to ask..

Is it a rule of thumb - that to put new maps on the Garmin Nuvi (760 & 770) - you must download Mapsource first.

So i need Mapsource in any instance : which is the latest version?

Following that i : follow instructions on this thread :
http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?4201-How-To-Load-Maps-On-My-Garmin-GPS-Unit

Also do i need pay for the site that downloads these software's fast: or maybe some instructions on how to download?

Thanks

You have two options when downloading from an upload host. Either as a free member [which is usually a much slower download speed] or as a premium member that pays to download from that host [usually much faster and no waiting time between downloads]. The choice is yours.

I have updated nuvi's in the past by downloading an unlocked image from the city navigator map thread and then just replacing the old map, the map image may need to be renamed to match the original. P!xeldealer can give more detail.

do like fatboyfun told,
put unlocked image 'gmapsupp.img' in folder 'garmin' on SD or internal,
or replace internal 'gmapprom.img'.

Hi

OKay tried that - but it suggests the file is too big.

I have gone to the correct thread - some else has asked the same question - "p!xeldealer" you have suggested they look@ #2 - if that means post number 2 - then i am confused - As that relates to GMAP3D.IMG

A little further down on the same page there is some downloads for hulkshare.
If this is what you are referring to:
1. The link doesn't work
2. It is split between western europe and eastern europe - does this mean you can only have one or the other due to the size of the memory.

p.s i am not using a memory card. All maps must go straight on the device.

Thanks for your help.

My knowledge of Garmin is limited but explain what the problem is and I'll try to help.

P!xeldealer is having technical problems at the moment.

I just need to know which download to use.

As per post number #7.

What map coverage do you need?

Europe western and eastern.

I would assume uk is included. If ROI is included that would be good too.

Go to this thread... http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?8935-City-Navigator-Europe-NT-2012.40

... and download the eight files for C. N. EUROPE NT 2012.40 FULL IMG UNLOCKED (2.39GB)

If it doesn't fit on the device there is a smaller option further down the page... 2 GB for GSM/Old Nuvi

Or you can have West EU and East EU on different SD cards and swap between them as needed.

Failing that use individual countries...

Having gone to that thread - i have downloaded all the varied options.

However the 2GB/ for GSM files seem to be corrupt.

And the separate westEU / eastEU files - state i do not have copyright issues - message i get as below

(This file was recognized as containing fingerprint protected copyright works and it has accordingly been disabled for public access.
