I have managed to download the 1.97 file - which shows as GMAPSUPP -

What do i delete from the garmin to put this on - as i can't find a file in the device with the same name -
without deleting anything this will not fit

Gmapprom basically the biggest file in the Garmin directory, make a backup of the device first.

Rename the new map to match the old one

Tue Mar 13, 2012 5:35 pm

The file i have downloaded is : 2,072,960KB
The orignal file i deleted is : 1,604,160KB

when trying to transfer it seems to be too big for the device.

do i also delete: gmapprom.sum???

Thanks

Are you able to use a SD card?

Tue Mar 13, 2012 7:12 pm

I don't have any sd cards

the 1.97 files comes out as more than 1.97 for some reason

If it won't fit, it won't fit, so decide whether you need to have the whole of Europe installed.

And don't delete anything otherwise problems may occur.

No I don't need all of europe.

So would you suggest downloading country by country?

If so what about renaming of the files? How can I do this? Do I just rename and transfer one by one into the garmin folder.

Thanks

As the map needs to be called Gmapprom.img then you can only have one map installed.

However this thread here explains how to put several maps on one device (Nuvi 255w) My knowledge of Garmin devices is limited so i don't know if this applies to your device.

Bam-Bam will refresh the map links soon, Maybe using western (or eastern) Europe may be better.

Hi yes, I can you use western... But as mentioned in an earlier post I could not download it... Due to user restriction.

Is that what yOu have just mentioned as bam bam will update?

Tue Mar 13, 2012 9:16 pm

He said he will upload and post new links shortly, so check back periodically...

p.s. when you download the west EU files - there are files that are corrupt within them - so you cannot complete the extraction successfully.

What extraction utility are you using? Sometimes 7Zip works where WinRar fails and vice versa.

Wed Mar 14, 2012 7:24 pm

i am using WinRar.

Should i try another?

Once it carries out its process in full - it states file is corrupt.

Wed Mar 14, 2012 7:31 pm

I would try 7ZIP (Freeware, Open source) before downloading again...

[Please Register or Login to download file]

Sometimes only one works.

A question: ( one of many by looks of this thread)

If i manage to download this:
2 GB for GSM/Old Nuvi
No-Bg,Tenerife,Iceland,Norway,Sweden,Finland,Estonia, Latvia,Lithuania,Belarus,Ukraine,Denmark

Can i put it directly onto my device?as in i dont need an SD card do i?

It is names Gmapsupp - so all i would do is change the name to match what was already on the device.

I am going to try the above it works - job done. Otherwise im going to have to wait for the new links.

----******* Scratch the above****** the file is corrupt. Just tried downloading with 7-zip. Same thing happen.*****
