The device simply lacks the memory and that can not be helped. You can live with it and calculate a route in etappes of +/- 500km.

If I am not wrong, and I can be, full Europe means Europe in detail, while an original 250w had (I think) only local maps + Europe main roads.

Edit.
My bad. Confused it with 205W model.
Google found that in Europe the 250w had full coverage.

Are you sure you select the correct and newest map to load and route?

Most likely a reset solves the issue.
There are 2 resets on the Nuvi. A system reset and a Master reset.
To perform a system reset switch the unit off, hold your finger on the lower right of the screen. While holding your finger there, power the unit back on but don't remove your finger ! It takes about 3-4 seconds before a screen pops up asking if you really want to delete all user data, Yes or No. Pressing yes, any favorites saved then will be lost. I advise to do that. Maybe take a note of them first? Easier to make the new settings. ;) Oh, save the files from POI folder ( custom POI) and GPX folder (current) on your PC and copy them back later.
That procedure should do the trick.

When not, there is the Master Reset: on the bottom of the GPS (where the serial number is) you will see a little O. It should say "reset" just below the O. That is the master reset button.

About map size: isn't the Europe map getting bigger and bigger? I remember it being less than 1.8 GB (2008 maps I think were that size). What size is it now? During the years, the Nuvi 2xx series had more and more memory problems and possibly the maps had something to do with that.

This thread should really be in the Garmin section not Chit-Chat.
If it ain't broke don't fix it!
ALWAYS BACK-UP YOUR FILES/FOLDERS BEFORE MAKING EDITING CHANGES!

Please do NOT post any thanks. Simply press the hand icon with the "thumb up" which is the thank you button.
