Help: Updating Nuvi 42

Hi all,

Great site! Thanks for those who maintain it.

However, I'm a bit bewildered by the range of maps and software available, and hoping someone can offer clear instructions on how to update the maps on my Garmin Nuvi 42. (A basic explanation for dummies is what I need!)

I updated the device once before using maps from a torrent site. However, this was a few years ago and I can't remember whether I needed software or if I just dragged and dropped the map via USB. Currently, I have EU and UK maps on there (I only need UK, but I don't mind having both.)

When I plug the device in by USB, I can't find a ".img" file to replace with a new map, which is what I thought was needed.

Any tips would be gratefully received.

Scratch that. I realised the .img file is in the hidden ".System" folder on my device. I have replaced it with the file from this website, and all seems to be working fine.
