HELP - Updating device/map on Garmin Nuvi 250W - UK ?????

Hi All

I have the above device and have browsed the tutorials/maps thread BUT still confused being a total newbie....lol

I have not updated the device/maps since 2008 and it is running with details below -

Garmin Nuvi 250W
Software Version - 4.60
Unit ID - ?????????? (not sure if i should post this on here ?)
Audio Version - 2.3
GPS SW Version 2.55b
Basemap - WW Autoroute Basemap NR 2.01

Where do i start guys ?

Do i update the software first with Webupdater of garmin site ??

Yes, first of all you should update device software with Garmin WebUpdater.

Then you can download an actual unlocked City Navigator NT Image of your choice. Note that you can't use maps > 2 GB or unicode maps with your device.

Can not see any images listed and have been trying to d/load this link ?

Managed to find an image on newsgroups -

GARMIN.CITY.NAVIGATOR.UNITED.KINGDOM.NT.2012.ISO

What do i do with it ?

Do i need an sd card ? Do i have to leave it in the device at all times ??
