Now nothing works, no data. Is any chance to let me know where to start from .
When I did format it the max memory was 1.88GB and the first file recomended 1.92 so It wouldnt fit in that.
I would really appreciate any help, im stuck.

First you have to transfer your firmware with garmin express! To realise does your PC recognise the device? Can you see what is on it?
Do you have any backup of the previous files? Anyway don't panic for everything there is a solution!
First we will try to put on it the firmware if there no booting! Second to transfer on it at least one generic map like this one!

Describe me exactly what happens now on your device!
Any time you can change the name of the two files and replace there position it was no need to format the device!

In case that your device is not booting and is not recognised by your PC
Try to put it in pre-boot mode. In this mode, you can use updater.exe and the proper .rgn firmware file to update the firmware. I think using a cure firmware would be the best to recover your unit.

Here is how to put in pre-boot mode. I can't remember who wrote this procedure, but it works on nuvi760.

#1. Turn off unit and unplug
#2. Put your finger in the middle of the screen.(not in a corner)
#3. Slide the power button to the locked(right) position
#4. While the unit is off, and holding finger in the middle, plug in the usb cable.
#5. After downloading the firmware file from Garmin, click it to expand it.
#6. Drag the rgn file onto the updater file, which should transfer the firmware to the unit.
#7. Keep this file, as your firmware upgrade backup.
Everything is described here
[Please Register or Login to download file]
Briefly...
1. Take PouchX cure .RGN firmware for 760 and by using RGN_Tool save to .GCD Also is good to change SW version to 4.01
2. Name the created .GCD to GUPDATE.GCD and after that copy it to SD card in a folder x:/Garmin/
3. Insert SD card and turn on nuvi

I just realised that there were replies on the second page.
I did look online and did install a UK map on it. The PC can recognise it , and can show the internal and external memory space.
Now the issue is that it doesnt recognise the maps on the SD card.I got few maps on the sd, on different files but even before when had only 1 wasnt working.
The maximum capacity of it was a lot less than the files I did download. Still I would appreciate help of how to make it work either from sd card or one part on internal and one part on sd.

If the SD is not recognised may be the reason is not FAT32 format ! or the maps are not as gmapsupp.img and unlocked on a \Garmin directory.
also check what firmware you have should be the last one.

The SD is Fat32 , but the maps are gmaprom.img. Not sure about the unlocking , firmware is the latest.

So rename the file as gmapsupp.img and try to see if the map is recognised and don't forget the size of the files should not overpass 2GB

Yes! Me I am working like this and i have joined also other TOPO maps! As a last option that i can think is that the device can not recognise SD more than 4GB mine is 4GB.
Once again to ask
The files are less than 2GB?
Are unlocked?
Are in a directory \Garmin ?
The name is gmapsupp.img
so if everything is like above should work!

I think the card using is fine, now the problem is the map.would it be possible to have the whole europe map splitted into 300 and 1700 KB , so the small one goes in garmin the other one in the card

Ok I will do this but tell me what country to be in the small one i suppose you want to put as gmappro on the device?
And also what countries to put in the other one since the remaining 2GB are not enough for hole Europe map?
