Garmin Mobile Xt on Mio C310

Postby mojonba » Sat Dec 11, 2010 1:19 am

Hello,

Im doing a road trip soon and was trying to update my C310 and was trying to install Garmin Mobile Xt on it. I downloaded the version located here, but I've run into some problems. When I launch garmin.mscr i see the taskbar flashing. I am also unable to follow the unlock procedure as i am unable to get the card id. My only options upon launch are: Purchase, Begin Trial, Enter Key, Connect to GPS. The connect to GPS stays in scanning and doesnt seem to find a GPS receiver. Please let me know how to workaround these issues.

Thanks.

It's been a long time since I installed Garmin Mobile XT. But if I remember correctly, that is the correct screen that you will see with those 4 options until you create a SW.UNL. Choose Connect to GPS and I think there is an option on that screen to cancel which brings you to another screen which asks if you want to try another Garmin device. Choose no, then go to settings [tools icon] and once there you can go to about and get the card number. Remember, I'm doing this from memory so work with me here please.

When you start garmin choice Connect to a Garmin GPS
Go Tools / Settings / About (here is your deviceID)

Taskbar flashing:
Edit garmin.mscr and add these bold commands before and after QUE.EXE (you must use you own paths, attached file contain both .EXE files)

SetVolume 255
Run("\Storage Card\Shell\Tools\TaskbarHide.exe")

Runwait ("\Storage Card\Garmin\Apps\WM\Que.exe")

Run("\Storage Card\Shell\Tools\TaskbarShow.exe")

Thanks for the replys,

I was able to hide the taskbar and unlock the device. The taskbar was hiding the skip button i needed to press to get the device id. I am however seeing a 1/4 inch gray bar across the width of the screen 1/4 from the bottom and also seeing the desktop on a 1/4 bar at the top. The "desktop" bar goes away in map view but the gray bar does not. Any way to remove these?

Thanks

Does this mean that you are now able to get into the program and it's working? I'm dying to know if you tried ONLY my suggestions in post #2 and if they were correct?

The script mod PiEtU provided did the trick. The thing is with the taskbar sitting in the way it as impossible to get to the settings screen and therefore the device id.

But did you try JUST mine with NO taskbar edits. When I did it my way there was nothing in the way of seeing anything.

chas,

On the connect to gps screen there is a skip button that you need to press in order skip the scanning gps thing. Maybe I was indoors and it took long scanning but there was no way to get out of that screen without pressing the skip button.

pietu,

i'm already unlocked and up and running. it is working except the nuissance of the gray bar. Here are some screenshots: [Please Register or Login to download file] , [Please Register or Login to download file] .

Here's a copy of my Garmin.mscr. Do I need to kill explorer.exe? is the command Kill( "explorer.exe" ) ? Should I add it in the first line?

Code: Select all
XCopy("\Storage Card\Garmin\Garmin\*.*","\Garmin",True,True)
SetVolume 255
Run("\Storage Card\Shell\Tools\TaskbarHide.exe")
RunWait("\Storage Card\Garmin\Apps\WM\Que.exe")
Run("\Storage Card\Shell\Tools\TaskbarShow.exe")
XCopy("\Garmin\*.*","\Storage Card\Garmin\Garmin",True,True)

I got an illegal operation error in explorer.exe upon launching the edited mscr. I'm not running any programs. Im launching right after a soft-reset and using a Garmin.mscr desktop in the shortcut to avoid launching windows explorer. Unless the standard Mio WinCE autoloads something.

And THAT'S exactly what you were supposed to do. Skip it. I thought it was called something else. Pietu is an expert in Garmin but when it comes to Mio WinCE devices, I know what I'm talking about. See my post #2.

The ONLY things that should be on your Mio is what Mio installed on the internal flash drive and the now the unlock you used to open your device. 2. Only thing on your SD card should be the d/l you made from the upload I made [Garmin folder] with absolutely no edits at all. I'm trying to help you so let me help you. Then follow my directions above.

Did you look at my signature line?
