Garmin JCX File ?

Can someone tell me what the Garmin File "JCX" is or does ?

Where did you found such file? I never heard or seen in connection with garmin. Maybe it has xml format? Did you try to read it with any editor?

It is in the Garmin Folder on my 885t.

I do not see it on any of my other GPS units.

Someone on another forum board suggested this:

.jcx is only a java control extension AFAIK. I can't find any in my 1300. What they do on your 885T is probably access a database for some info i suppose. Maybe in some units it is to do with accessing the XML?

I will try to read it tomorrow as I have a copy at my work PC.

I did some checking, and find that this file was NOT present in CNNA2012.20, or CNNA2012.10.

It did not appear until CNNA2012.30. It is also present in 2012.40.

The file is exactly the same file name and size in both 2012.30 & 2012.40.

File name = D3153040A.JCX 45,405KB.

Since is has an "A" in the file name, I think it's safe to assume there was a D3153040.JCX.

I could not open the file, so I don't know what it really is.

Also, as I said, it is NOT in the 2012.30, 2012.40 update for my 775t.

It's a mystery.
