you must install mapsource first http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?1100-MapSource-v6.16.2-BaseCamp-3.0.6-amp-MapInstall-3.14.2-Patched

easy way use only patched mapsource.exe

1. run install.bat
2. run mapsource.exe (patched)
3. choice areas in mapsource and send map to some drive \garmin directory (then copy it your device \garmin directory)

go menu "view\switch to product" select your map and you can see it....

IMG file is ready to use map file it is created with mapsource... just copy your device \garmin directory
if it locked map you must create key file with Jetmouse..

You did it! thankyou, I can now see the map in the mapsource screen. I have followed the tutorial and I have selected what part I need and I have transfered it to the device and it is showing up as Detailed maps memory in manage data, map sets when I click on it I can see it says Barbados and it says memory 0.1MB. What do I do now? I mean I have clicked Browse Map but nothing is showing except an icon of a car?

I understand now thankyou for expalining it to me. The other problem I have is that the map is 2.47 gb and the device only supports 2gb cards is there any way I can shrink it down ?

Basemap? what is this function? is it something that goes on the pda? I was thinking that maybe I had to be in barbados, you see tomtom has a feature where you can preview your route and such. I take it Gamrin doesn't? really then the bottom line is that I can only preview on the desktop and when I get to barbados it will show on the map when I have a gps signal. Ok I understand.

Basically all I want is to be able to switch on my PDA and see where I am this basemap is that something I can download? I have seen a basemap 2006 and tried to install it but it says I need palm desktop to install it ?

Thankyou very much Pietu that was exactly what I was looking for, if I obtain a GPS signal will it show me where I am anywhere in the world? or is this just a map used for planning? also is it possible to obtain a UK map without the trimmings. Basically what I would like to do is say put in a post code of a place I want to go and it takes me there, I am not interested in the topography of the UK. Just something nice and simple, is that possible?
