For the CTP2012 whats the latest version? i have on my car 4.10

I do not know, make yourself an USB as I described and check what Garmin Express tells you.

I guess we have a different menu because for me there is no such thing as update map in the menu

hernanzy A friend of mine was updating EU maps on his CTP2012, with software version above 4.xx and it went through without any issues.
The only difference between CTP2012 and CTP13 in behavior during the update is that CTP2012 wants and activation code, and CTP13 does not.
There was a problem with updating to newer maps on CTP13 devices which had older software version. But software update (currently 3.15) solved that issue.

Maybe CTP2012 also needs a software update to be able to handle new maps ?
I am a newbie to this, and I used this forum to know how to update the maps, so if you also do everything according to instructions found here, maybe you ought to start with Garmin software update first ?
And here, I am afraid it won`t be easy to get an update file from the dealer, because they probably do not know how to get it, they are in majority lazy dumbasses.
I think you should write an email to Fiat/Dodge/Lancia/Chrysler headquarters and ask them to get you newest gupdate.gcd file for your device.

Is it normal to have an error message that says something like the map update was unsuccessful?

I had my car in Run mode (without starting the engine, this is similar to the Chrysler Uconnect instructions I found somewhere for the 2011 firmware update. It said to not start the engine but put it in Run mode). I had a battery charger on trickle charge just as a precaution to make sure the battery didn't run out of juice

It ran the update, my whole car except the Uconnect eventually shut down during the long update process.
Once the progress bar seemed to hit 100% the Uconnect also shut down.
When I restarted the car, it loaded and had the error message that the map update was unsuccessful. Something something see your dealer for assistance. Can't remember exact wording...

Anyways when the maps loaded up, I noticed it now said 2013 for the copyright dates.

Upon going to the Maps info page, it shows that 2013.40 is installed.

Just only questioning if it properly installed due to the error message....

Yes it`s normal, it`s probably caused by some of the files are missing. But they are not necessary to get this thing working

Thanks subuk, I was hoping that files will be identical in names to ones issued for regular Garmin GPS's, but, alas, that not the case. Looks like file names for JCV and ASR are unique to UConnect. Do you happen to have exact file sizes?

JCV name is different for every map release.
I will give you file sizes later.

I'm aware that they change with every release, but these names do not correspond to any known release for Garmin nüvi, for example.

But it doesn't really matter cause I have used bigger JCV file from 2013.41 NTU EU posted in New Maps thread on this forum and it works lika charm :-)
