But not in the US - it is provided by Sirius Satellite (paid subscription). The fact that it is available outside the US gives me hope that it can be enabled via some Garmin settings in the config files.

Totally agree with what you posted. I think I wasn't clear on my post. In the US, I believe Uconnect is setup to ONLY use Sirius and not the FM broadcasts. I just bought a CTP13, so when it arrives my hope is that I can tweak the Garmin settings to configure it to use FM based traffic instead of Sirius. Since your unit outside of the US is indeed using the FM broadcasts, I'm hopeful that I will be able to modify it.

Any updates with anyone? I was bored earlier and tried the new 2014.20 maps and didn't even get to the install screen, it just gave me the flash error after validating. Called a few dealerships and they all tell me to buy a new cd from garmin. I wouldn't care so much with outdated maps but in my case I have no "detailed maps". All my nav screen shows is major highways and the rest is blank land.

Could some of you guys, who live in the US and have CTP13 with those additional options (Sirius SAT Radio etc) post a screenshot of "Radio Part Info" screen from the Dealer Mode ?
I would like to compare if it`s just a matter of software or these UConnects are physically different.
To enter dealer mode press and hold both temperature buttons from the driver side (blue+red) and Windshield Defrost button. You need to hold these 3 buttons until Dealer Mode turns on.
To make a screenshot you need to hold the same temperature buttons + rear window defrost button you hold those 3 button until screen skips and pop up windows shows up with information about successfully taken picture. Of course you must have a pendrive plugged in.

those are two from a forums site. I think they are CTP12 though..
I check in the file manager on the unit and it's in there. Farthest i've gotten was about 95% and got the flash error..

Try to delete it then and reflash once again. Do you have gmapsupp.img file on your device ?

can't delete gmapsupp.img on CTP unit. however I tried an micro sd. no luck. then another shot at the usb stick and now i think its bricked.. i went through the dealer mode an tried garmin restore.. now its stuck on garmin loading screen.

When the navi is able to load completely, there is no need to use garmin recovery mode. It only flashes gupdate.gcd
You could try to delete gmapprom.img and copy gmapsupp.img and rename it to gmapprom then.

Let know if it still hangs on logo screen or it loads to Where to / view map.

hello, I would like to know how to update the map with Freemont CTP13 south america 2014.20, I have the map but I create a folder and put GARMIN map with the name gmapprom.img on a SD card or a DVD media?

I just installed my CTP13 RB5. Similar screen to above, but no "Subscriptions" menu item. The unit I obtained is still active on it's first year of Sirius satellite radio, so possibly it will default back to the FM based TMC data when that subscription runs out. No way for me to test though since the satellite radio sub is active. I'm going to change the radio's country code though to see if it will give the "Subscriptions" option It might be an option on non-North America units. It might also be something coded in one of the setup files.

I really doubt that TMC FM subscription appears after Sirius subscription ends.
That could cause a huge loss for Sirius if FM TMC works well in the US.
I think that their marketing already took care about it. Anyway I think it might be done by updating RB5 with files from some equivalent Nuvi device.

Well, my Sirius subscription only stayed active for a day. I no longer have Sirius or the traffic data on the CTP13. I also do not have the traffic options that other CTP13 units are displaying (those that get traffic via FM).

Can those that have traffic check if they have a folder called GTM20? Possibly I can enable the FM traffic by just adding this data.

In mine, GTM20 also has status "Erased". But maybe someone from the country where TCM works just fine could check if he/she also does not have GTM20 while his/her TMC works ?
