Becker Ready 43 Sound

Mon Aug 29, 2011 10:10 am

Hi,

on my Becker I can't volume up sound so it's difficult to hear. On the program (IGO) the volume is set to maximum, but in WIN CE master volume is set in lower half of slider. When I adjust volume in WINCE, sound is excellent and strong but the WIN won't remember setting and put back slider where it was before.

What can I do to permanently adjust volume?

SOLVED!!!

Add to sys.txt

[sound]
use_os_volume=0

What is iGO's master volume set as?

Mon Aug 29, 2011 12:39 pm

IGO's master volume is at 100%, but CE's abou 40%. When I set CE's volume to 100% the sound is excellent but after less than a minute it set itself on lower volume.

Did you unlock your device to run a different app to the original? It's very strange that the volume returns to 40% by it's self

Mon Aug 29, 2011 1:40 pm

No, I didn't unlock device. I don't know how to do that. CE won't remember any settings that I change, and keeps returning to original one.

It is normal for earlier versions of Windows CE to revert to it's default settings after being switched off, What is not normal is it adjusting the volume by itself, iGO's master volume is linked to the WinCE volume control. Post your sys.txt

My sys.txt (found on iGO8 folder) looks like this

[device]
type="BECKER_2010Q3E2"

[tmc]
port="COM,1"
baud=38400
source="gns"

The version of WINCE is 5.0

Before i get you adding things to the sys.txt, check that every volume slider is at maximum and check the dynamic volume is switched off.

Mon Aug 29, 2011 5:47 pm

There is only one volume slider in IGO software and it's on maximum. There is no dynamic volume or I can't find it.

Mon Aug 29, 2011 6:42 pm

Has it always been like this?

Mon Aug 29, 2011 6:58 pm

Yes, it's brand new. Only a few weeks old

It sounds like iGO is limiting the volume of the device, So copy the Data.zip to your PC, open it and navigate to Data.zip\Config\Devices, Find the ini file called BECKER_2010Q3E2.ini, open it with Notepad and post here.

Mon Aug 29, 2011 7:15 pm

There is no file BECKER_2010Q3E2.ini in that directory, only config\devices\MEDION_E44XX.ini and here it is

Make a copy of the sys.txt on your PC just in case, and then add the following entries to the sys.txt on your device

[sound]
voice_volume=255
effect_volume=255
os_volume=255
sound_volume=255
use_os_volume=1

These entries should force iGO to use maximum volume, You may not need to use all of them. Obviously you will need to restart iGO for these to take effect.

Mon Aug 29, 2011 8:15 pm

No changes. The sound volume remains the same, IGO slider is at max.

Enough for today, must go to sleep, working early. Thanks Fatboyfun for effort, we will continue tomorrow.
