For an initial installation:
1. Turn off all internet connection (wifi and / or 3g). VERY IMPORTANT.
2 - Copy the folder named "tomtom" to the root of your sdcard named smartphone memory.
3. Install XXXXX.apk file (for example, copy it to download and install).
4. Start TomTom (TomTom xxxxxx with icon) and enjoy.
5. It is recommended to use TomTom offline without internet connection to the first connection

"Unable to connect to TomTom. Please try again later"
solution:
1. Check that any connection is disabled.
2. If the problem persists is that you have not copied the "tomtom" folder in the right place.
Uninstall TomTom and repeat the procedure by copying the "tomtom" folder in the right place.
3 . Change .metadate.xml file://mnt/sdcard/tomtom/com.tomtom.XXXX ( On my phone galasy S2 file://mnt/sdcard0/tomtom/com.tomtom.XXXX )

Found the problem. Install as above, before you start the app, go to >settings >app manager >Tomtom europe > move to SD card.
It then works like a dream.
Thanks.

I was getting the same message on Huawei P6.
But has been worked fine since I installed the apk from internal memory and put the whole /tomtom/ folder into the internal memory, not on external SD card! Try.
Make sure the ".metadata.xml" file is in \tomtom\com.tomtom.country\ folder. If it is not, copy it again manually.

Guessing the reason is that the posted apk and maps work correctly from external SD card (as instructed) only with phones that have \mnt\sdcard\ path for external memory. If the path is different, eg. \mnt\ext_sdcard\, the tomtom with maps should be placed into internal memory of the device.

Hi ( from Corsica )
Work fine on galaxy S4 GTI9505 versus LTE with Map Europe 1.2 .apk and Map [3.43GB]
the apk file normally installed

The map folder is /storage/emulated/0(or legacy)/tomtom
Inside this folder com.tomtom.Europe

This folder (emulated/O) is the internal sdcard

I do not know how to recognize that TOMTOM map on extsdcard( µsdhc)
there are only 16Go to go available and map take over 3.5Go.

Thank's :drinks:

Hi
I find how to move TomTom map to ExtsdCard
1 : In application manager : click move app to sdcard
2 : Copy the entire directory tomtom to the root of the ExtsdCard.
3 : Clear tomtom folder on sdcard (inner).
It's all and work fine on Galaxy S4 :D
Map folder /storage/extSdCard/tomtom and inside com.tomtom.Europe

Hi

I am attempting to install on my HTC one which DOES NOT have sd card. HTC one only has an internal storage of 32gb.
So could someone please confirm how I am meant to edit the meta file.

Thank you

V

Android calls the first volume of storage available to it "sdcard", this may be internal storage.

This refers back to when android was new and internal storage on a phone was unheard of.
