Primo 9.6.7.281004 Complete UK package For Nexus 4 or 7 with

Postby peweuk » Fri Aug 02, 2013 1:43 pm

Thanks Livingstone (did you change your name from Booce?)

I have 2 issues currently.

1. If I place a copy of your NexusSys file in the iGo directory Primo does not start (well it starts then crashes).

I modified the file to reflect my screen size (screen_xy="1280_800:1207x800/727x1280") and also added '/storage/sdcard1/iGO' to the root folder as that is where my iGo directory is.

So I'm puzzled as to why this happens - and as my Tablet is not 'rooted' I can't access the system files (not that I need to change anything in sys.txt at present).

2. I tried to alter a dimka skin which I have for the WinCe version of Primo to change the screen resolutions in the info.ini , as well as changing the directory from 'ui_igo9' to 'ui_android'. I also added a directory 1280_800 with copies of the icons just for good measure.
When I put the altered skin zip in skin directory and restarted Primo - it crashed with a fatal exception.
SOoooo... I found an Android version of the Dimka skin and tried that - changing the info.ini for the resolution - this time Primo would not start (no fatal exception though - it just would not start).

I don't know if this makes any sense to you, but if you can offer any advice/assistance I would appreciate it.

NOTE: I am not experienced with any of this stuff, so if there is a possibility that you would have the time to try the Dimka skin in your Nexus I could send a copy to you.

TIA.

Ok, really not sure what's happening with the sys.txt for you as I've not had that but if your screen is right and everything is working, I'd just not worry about it. As for the Dimka skin, can you try this one and let me know if that works?

Gee - thanks for coming back so quick.

Just after I posted my last response I actually found the site you linked. I had found 5 different versions of Dimka modded to 1280x800 and downloaded them.

I found that 3 worked and of those one is 'almost' identical to the one I have on my WinCe Satnav, so I'm sorted with the 2 systems having the same skin for consistency.

Thanks for all your help.

Livingstone - sorry to be a pain, I thought I was sorted -but although the skin is now working I have a problem - no sound.

I assume that your sound (ie voices) is working and wonder if my problem is to do with the sys.txt file ( I have all the same directories in Primo as I have on my WinCe satnav, and the sound is fine on that).
I hope not as I can't get at the file.

UPDATE:

In an effort to find a resolution to the sound problem I continued my search and tried a few other .apk versions as I had discovered various posts about sound problems which various .apk's (including yours) implied to have a fix for.

In doing so I found an .apk which worked on my device (a few didn't) and it also put the sys.txt on the SD Card where I can edit it.

However there was still no voices searching the settings again nothing I did made any difference - so as an experiment I downloaded a free sat nav app from 'Google Play' and installed that to see what happened, and the directions were announced in that. Then I tried Google Maps again (pre-installed on the device) and suddenly I noticed there were spoken directions which were not there before.
So I tried Primo again - and voila it had sound.

Now this is where I get embarrassed.:o
As I pressed the 'Off' key on the device to turn it off I noticed that the confirmation window not only asked for confirmation that I wanted to turn it off, but it also had an option for 'Fight Mode' and also 3 icons at the bottom of the panel. One icon was a crossed out speaker, one was a speaker and the one in the middle was a small 'Smartphone' icon. There was a small bar under the speaker, and if I tapped the 'smartphone' icon the bar moved under that - and the sound for spoken directions disappeared for all apps. Moving it under the speaker again returned the sound

I still haven't found an explanation of the 'Smartphone' icon and how it is supposed to affect the device, but I guess that was the original setting and for some reason it was changed when I installed the second sat nav app.

Anyway, I now appear to be sorted - so thanks for your input.

Unpack the iGO (or Primo) folder to your devices 'sdcard'. 'sdcard' is a volume label and is likely to be the phone's internal storage.

Install the .apk, if you get an error check whether Settings -> Security -> Unknown sources is checked
If you are using ES file explorer and are rooted turn off (Un)Install apk automatically in ES settings.
