See here for which maps suit your device maps-v1xxx/compatible-chart-v1135-nav-maps-t23885.html then here to see which of those we have metas for maps-v1xxx/meta-codes-1135-t23887.html then use TTActivator to download/install/activate etc
If you can't find an 1135 map then you'll need to start looking backwards for previous maps with metas

Carminat Live systems cannot be updated...any updates need to be done by the main dealer.

@bogismogus,

You can remake Carminat Live SD card with data from here -> [Please Register or Login to download file] , using CID [ 0941504146205344021a382352018100 ] prepared card with COPY FLAG in CSD register [ more info -> [Please Register or Login to download file] ] set as original ... There is a vendors that sell custom designed SD cards at AliExpress - you can find it.

Hi @bogismogus,

Thanks for the Mega link, just downloaded it. Can you please clarify what you mentioned about setting the copy flag in the CSD register as "original"? I've seen a dozen AliExpress products that expect the CID to be messaged to them, but none of them mention anything about the CSD register... Maybe they set it as "original" by default?

Waiting for your reply, thanks in advance.

Sincerely yours, Brandt

Is this tutorial up to date?

It tells to use TTactivator yet some people say its outdated tool. There is Fast Activate in other topic. Not sure which i should be using.

Hello,

I'm trying to update my tomtom navigation in car. Its Tomtom Carminat. Info pulled from FastActivate

ttgo.bif:
DeviceName=Carminat TomTom
DeviceVersionHW=Carminat TomTom
DeviceSerialNumber=IAxxxxxxxxxx
BootLoaderVersion=80030
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8843
ApplicationVersion=3130258
CurrentMap=
CurrentMapVersion=0.0
Map(s):

Storage:
Size 7375MB, Free 7357MB

What I did so far:

1. I prepared empty 8GB SD card, formatted it as FAT32 and plugged it in to my car. I turned on radio/nav and waited till it popped out "SD card is ready to use with Tomtom Home" and then till it showed "no maps found" screen. Turned car off, removed SD card.

2. I plugged SD card into computer. It contained only "loopdir" folder with "loopback.ex3" file

3. Using explore2fs-1.07 i extracted "ttgo.bif" file from loopback.ex3 into root SD card. I placed FastActivate in root of my SD card and ran "My Device Info"

4. Using compatibility table i determined that most up to date maps for Central Europe with meta for my device (nav2 navcore 8) are "TomTom Central and Eastern Europe 1130 12307"

5. I downloaded them from maps-v1xxx/maps-1130-t23780.html and then I downloaded full meta file from maps-v1xxx/date-meta-txt-file-t24099.html

6. I launched FastActivate, clicked "My device Info". meta.txt file appeared on my SD card. I replaced it with full meta file.

7. I copied over "TomTom Central and Eastern Europe 1130 12307.zip" file to root of my SD card and unzipped it.

8. I clicked "Patch Maps". DTC error appears.

..:: FastActivate 22.0.0.0 ::..
________________________________________________________________________________
Voice(s):
Complete Map(s):
Incomplete Map(s):
Central_and_Eastern_Europe-104126.meta => .dct ERROR
Speed cameras:
________________________________________________________________________________
BIF File......F:\TTGO.BIF
KeyGen Type...8
Device Name...Carminat TomTom
Application...8843
Bootloader....80030
DeviceID......AK6HAB2L9S
Storage.......Size 7375MB, Free 4033MB

Press any key to continue . . .

and then goes back to main menu.

Toubleshooting:

1. On first page it says "If you get a ".dct ERROR" message, it usually means the meta has not been released." but i checked my meta.txt and it contains meta for these maps. Its in line 2399:

00 73 7C D5 FA D7 FD 29 38 BA 3A 0C D3 4B B2 BC Central_and_Eastern_Europe-104126.meta ; Central_and_Eastern_Europe 1130_12307

2. I found this post tomtom-tools/fastactivate-latest-update-t19452.html?hilit=dct#p158256 so I checked folder with map files. There were no DTC files there before nor after using FastActivate. Following advice I placed meta.txt, unzipped maps, FastActivate and ttgo.bif file in one folder on my PC (rather than SD card) and tried FastActivate again but still same error.

What did I do wrong?

Moved to 'How to update your TOMTOM CARMINAT'

You posted in the wrong thread, you didn't search the forum for any previous information about Carminat, and you haven't read any of this information

If you refer to information on first page of this thread these instructions refer to a tool called "TTUSER EASYTOOLS" which was called inn several posts as "outdated" and links to it seem to have dried out.

I'm sorry if I caused you trouble. I was under impression that FastActivate is the "go to" tool now as it's pinned in Tomtom Tools sections. That's why I attempted to use it and that's why I posted in FastActivate thread as my problem came out from using FastActivate.

Which "how to"? The "how to" from first page that's using "TTUser Easytools" to which link is dead?

You're right, the link to Easytools is dead so I've updated the archive with an up to date meta.txt file (which includes 1165 meta codes) and reuploaded it...you can find it in post #1

If you still want to use FastActivate...rename meta.txt to mymeta.txt and try it again

Other than above, I can be of no further help as I've never updated a Carminat system myself

For anybody who will stumble in here looking for info. FastActivate or TTActivator works.

What was missing here are two critical pieces of information:
1. Maybe it's obvious to everyone but maps need to be unzipped and placed in a single folder like SD card is drive F so it would be F:\Europe_East_XXXYYY\(all map files) and not for example with map folder doubled F:\Europe_East_XXXYYY\Europe_East_XXXYYY\(all map files)

2. Beside placing maps and activating them something called "patching navcore" must be done. Maybe the tool from this guide does it but it does not mention such process anywhere. Again, maybe it's obvious for everone but that was something new to me.

To patch navcore you first download original navcore 8843 (links are on forum) then you unzip a file with CAB extension. Inside it you look for install/DS_1 and there is a single zip file with name like IA0000700006swlimage0.zip

Unzip that file, it will sprout a lot of new files and folders. Then delete the zip.

Finally copy all unzipped files and folders directly to your SD card and finally find amongst these new files one called ~tsystem and rename it to ttsystem

Only then "patch navcore" button in TTActivator or FastActivate will work.

So basically you place maps on SD card, then place all these "navcore" files and then you activate maps and patch navcore.

Once done it will work. Also navcore files must remain on SD card forever for it to work.

If you update your maps you only activate new maps. Navcore patching is done only once.
