TomTom Official SpeedCams Twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday

Strange, the size of the ov2 files changed slightly (like 4 bytes bigger or something), but speedcams still work without having to regenerate a key. I normally never do, but I think it's the first time I see the ov2 files size change. Or maybe I never noticed before :)

1. Once patched, they are forever patched.
2. The size will fluctuate from time to time.
3. I suspect that this is the case.

I'm confused.

I've already mentioned that the current updates do not show any of the mobile safety cam positions locally in my area or in some parts of the South West, only the fixed cams are shown.

The speedcam file I use is from 09-2012 of 240kb for the UK, yet the latest for the UK is 103kb.

So how many more Mobile speedcams are not notified.

Any clues.

I said it before: TT drastically reduced the amount of cams available in the files.
An alternative would be to use third party cams or to stick to an older version (the user must have an old file for that).
I have not updated my cams for over 2 years as think the ongoing updates are useless - there are never enough cams added in real life to justify he amount of updates.
Checking the filesize a constant decline can be seen over the months.
I personally guess TT is reflecting the times as in many countries warnings about mobile sites are forbidden now, fixed cam warnings however are only banned in a few countries like France and Switzerland.
Also cam warnings are only needed for drivers that don't pay enough attention to speed limits ;)

Yep, & we have replied that the mobile cam files have been drastically reduced for whatever reason.
Navitotal has no control over the contents of the Speed Cam files. TT releases them, & we post them. It has already been suggested that you contact TT support with your issue.
At present, you have 2 options.
1. Use the current files & accept the fact that the mobile cam files have been drastically reduced.
2. Continue using the way outdated files, if it puts your mind at ease.

The updates are received from users that pay for the cam updates.
The updates are not released in real time, so it depends on what and when we get access to newer files.
No speed cams are included in any map ;)

Personal note:
Due to changes in TT's way of handling speed cams recent "updates" have shown that the amount of actual cams has been reduced, as confirmed by the file size.
If you have a collection of older files it might be worth checking for the biggest file of recent updates in case you find missing cams everywhere.
I can only speak for the little area I drive around but I found that in recent updates many old cam locations are gone even though the cam is still active in the real world.
Also noted that even in the latest updates (for AU) some cams are still shown for area where there never was a cam in the real world.
Don't overestimate speed cam files, no matter if TT or from other sources!
Just keep one little thing in the back of your mind: You only need a speed cam warning if you don't pay attention or ignore road sings/road rules ;)

Hi,
you say it is illegal to use speedcam in France, in the listed countries there is France.
Does this mean that in the database french speedcams are listed and work, but you have to switch the warning function off?
Or does it mean that there are no entries for France?

Thank's
jumperger

1. Correct & correct!
2. NO!
3. NO, it means that the French files warn about a speed cam "Danger Zone" instead of a speed cam exact location.

1. Yes. Please read the installation instructions in post 1 of this thread.
2. An ov2.dct file in the map folder confirms that the cam has been patched.

Dear tendriver and colleagues

I have had severe problems when installing the premium cams of DE and ES in my map folder. I have tomtom XXL. I copied in the map folder the premium maps and activated them with fastactivate without any problem but afterwards once restarted, the device completely failed to find a single satellite. It just said signal lost xxx seconds/minutes ago. Additionally, and surprisingly, the patched premium camera files were not anymore in my map folder. I had previously copied my original ttgo file in the map folder.
Luckily I managed to get the satellite signal back by emptying a folder (i do not remember now the name but i had to do with the satellite signal/positioning) and rebooting the device by pressing the start button for about 20 seconds. Before i tried to re install the fix gps app from both tomtom home and fast activate.
I have the latest navecore (as perf rtomtom home) and also the laterst available map for europe south

Any help on what has happened and /or how to install the premium cams will be highly appreciatted

1. This is not unusual after a full setup update.
2, Same answer as point 1.
3. TT Home won't/ can't delete anything without human approval.
4. Navcore 9.510 & Europe South 955.6746??
