I have a Garmin 64S GPSMAP with an SD card the Topo France V2. A friend with the same device with a more recent Topo offered me this one, but my GPS says: "Unable to authenticate the cards. Contact the dealer for help". My friend informed me that there was a program that was supposed to unlock reading for my GPS. When is it exactly and how to get this program. Thank you.

Welcome to the forum, please start using the "Thumbs Up" button.
You obviously read where you downloaded from you can change the CP value to make these maps work.

This is the info I don't know about, (it is very important you have the HWID specific Kit or you are likely to Brick your device). What is this HWID specific Kit? I don't know what to do. I am reading the info but I need to have certainty of the steps to do next.
Thank you

Check your garmindevice.xml in your Garmin folder to confirm your HWID is 2590
PartNumber>006-B2590-00</PartNumber>
<SoftwareVersion>620</SoftwareVersion>
<Description>Garmin DriveAssist 51</Description>

Then only if confirmed :
Make sure your device is fully charged.
Unpack contents to fresh SD card formatted FAT32
Ensure your device is fully OFF (not in standby), insert the card in device and power on.
"Loader" will appear on screen for a while then the device will boot up when the flash of patched firmware is complete.
Your device may reboot its self during the process just be patient.
Your SD card will have a new file named 154.bin this is a backup of the device's non-volatile memory region and may save your device later if needed, so keep a copy of it somewhere safe.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi, I appreciate your help.
I checked my device and found it on GarminDevice XML.

<PartNumber>006-B2590-00</PartNumber>
<SoftwareVersion>620</SoftwareVersion>
<Description>Garmin DriveAssist 51</Description>

Let me know, now I have to download (DRİVEASSİST 51 (2590) FW6.20.RAR or the map and install on sd card, is this correct?

Thank you.

You have to Patch your device first to use unlocked maps, follow the above instructions do not put anything else on the SD card.
Unpack contents to fresh SD card formatted FAT32

Only after successfully Patching can you reuse the same SD card for maps after deleting the files you just used to Patch

I have this folder DriveAssist 51 (2590) fw6.20 Patched and inside another folder named Garmin.
Which folder do I use and where in the GPS I have to put the file.

Can you show where I find the instructions to patch?
Thank you.

Instructions given last week.

Unpack contents to fresh SD card formatted FAT32(the Garmin folder on to the empty SD card)
Ensure your device is fully OFF (not in standby), insert the card in device and power on.

Which patched SW version Echomap/gpsmap for VEU721L-g3 v22.5

Postby pollyplopp » Mon Jan 10, 2022 11:36 am

Please help me understand: which latest patched SW version is needed to be able to use the unlocked VEU721L maps from new-maps/northern-europe-charts-bluechart-vision-veu721l-t22578.html ?

on Garmin echomap 72 plus:
on Garmin echomap 72 UHD:
on Garmin gpsmap 723xsv:

Would be nice with a sticky post so easy to find for everyone. Bit confused after checking post found when searching but might be me.

Do I understand it correctly that this is the latest plus/UHD patched post: software/universal-firmware-patcher-for-protected-garmin-devices-t17987-660.html?hilit=echomap%2070#p182448
Will it be able to read the unlocked map above or does the map require later version that is not patched?
Thanks for the help

Is there any update on patching DriveSmart 65 w. HWID 3065??

Moderator Note
Welcome to the forum.
Use Search Thread for with your device name, this has been asked and answered many times
"DriveSmart 65"

Unfortunately it looks like Drive, DriveSmart 52,55,65,71 zumo XT ,Alpha 200i, Montana 700 are all in the same category.
No solution as the Universal Firmware Patcher does not recognise the new encrypted format.

Thanks a lot, I did many searches but since they were a little bit ago in the past, I thought of submitting a new question lolll ...

Would you mind telling me if there's any workaround to this problem? I have DriveSmart 65 and got the unlocked maps, but they are not working. I noticed at the front page of this thread, there's the 'SD option'; would that work for me? Or all options would need the device patched? If you answered this question somewhere else already, I am sorry for repeating it! And thanks a lot for all you do to help us here :)

It was an option I hadn't thought of in the first place. I saw that there was the solution to inject the patched firmware directly into the GPS internal memory. More simple for me. I didn't know where to find it at first but I ended up getting it. However, I will try to remember your proposal if one day I need to run a windows app on the mac. And I think it will soon happen to me. Thank you!

ATTENTION! First, update the software of your 7607xsv to the current version 20.40:
Code: Select all
https://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=8743

Then follow the ReadMe.txt manual from this archive:

Password: ricardoda7607xsv

This patched firmware should support any maps (original locked/unlocked, custom non-locked, etc.) without any additional manipulations with the maps.

Note:
1) If you don't know what you are doing, or if you don't have time to read&learn, please buy charts and stay with official firmware.
2) This patched firmware has been tested working in a few GPSMAP 7XXX units.
3) WARNING: Improper use of modified firmware can damage your device - You are responsible for all consequences of an improper use of this patched firmware, use it at your own risk.

Hi, I am sorry for coming back to clear my lack of understanding.
I did format one sd card after. After, I did a Garmin folder in that sd card and I put inside a file DriveAssist 51 (2590) fw6.20. I removed the sd card from the computer and inserted in the gps which was off. I turned the gps on and nothing happened.
After words I removed the sd card from gps and formatted again.

I don't know where to start. I red your instructions but nothing happened.

I have the Europe South map. I have gimgunlock-0.04 and DriveAssist 51 (2590) fw6.20.

Now, What are the steps? Which I put first, where and so on.

These are the instructions I followed:

Make sure your device is fully charged.
Unpack contents to fresh SD card formatted FAT32(the Garmin folder on to the empty SD card)
Ensure your device is fully OFF (not in standby), insert the card in device and power on.

What do I have to unpack?
The sd card is empty.
The Loader never showed up.
The device never rebooted.
I looked for the file 154.bin I didn't find it.

I appreciate your patience and understanding and your will to lead me on step by step.

Thank you one more time.

The sd card is empty.

The SD card should have only the Garmin folder on from the archive

The Loader never showed up.
The device never rebooted.
I looked for the file 154.bin I didn't find it.

Hi, I did put the garmin folder in the SD card.
After I put the sd card in the gps, I turned it on and upload shows up.
Now that I have that part done, I have to put the maps on the sd card inside the garmin folder, or do I do a folder Maps outside the garmin folder.
Where do I find the 154.bin to save out side the gps just in case.

I appreciate your assistance solving my issue.
