Program / Map brightness

Postby sukistar » Fri Jul 10, 2026 12:10 pm

Hi All,
Question, is it possible in primo to make the maps brighter? Im using 2.4 at the moment but it seems they are all the same. Machine and software brightnesses turned to 100% but still dull.... I was wondering if the was a line in the sys txt to increase map brightness?

Thanks in advance guys

A tinted/dark screen protector can cause the display to appear dull.
Or it could be the device itself not having a very bright screen to begin with.

Tried changing the scheme in Primo to a different one?

The following entries I've saved over the years, never tried them that I can recall, experimenting with one or more combinations and different values may or may not help.
Good luck!

Code: Select all
[power]
backlight_manage_values = 1
backlight_manage_keys = 1
backlight_max = 10
backlight_min = 0
backlight_reverse = 0
backlight_key_timeout_BA = "BatteryTimeout"
backlight_key_timeout_AC = "ACTimeout"
backlight_key_ontap_BA = "BacklightOnTap"
backlight_key_ontap_AC = "ACBacklightOnTap"
backlight_key_on_BA = "OnOff"
backlight_key_on_AC = "ExtOnOff"
backlight_methods = 61
backlight_events = 1
skip_suspend_process_all=1
disconnect_gps_on_suspend=0
powermgm_state="0"
backlight_day="100"
backlight_night="50"
backlight_sync_with_OS=1

Thanks for that my friend, I was hoping somebody would give me some ideas to try. I have been using Igo / Here for many years and on many machines and it always seems the same to me ..... dull maps that you cant see properly when the slightest bit of sun is out. The machine Im using now i got from truck nav / navman.. good units had a couple. but yes thanks again, ill have a play with some of the lines and maybee increase the values, see what happens.... ill come back and let you know how i get on....
thanks again

No probs, hope you get it sorted.

The map colours are usually defined by whatever scheme is in use, if no user schemes are present in the \Content\Scheme folder I think Primo has it's own default internal (inside the data.zip) schemes it uses for day and night map colouring.
Scheme colours can be edited to whatever a user desires.

I've never really had that issue using many devices over the years, though I do notice some schemes that come with the Primo programs the colours aren't the best for bright daylight usage.

I have had several unbranded chinese GPS devices over the last 15 years or so and none of them have had particularly bright screens. I have fabricated vairous sunshades for my motorbikes to help but with a following sun in bright conditions i just have to navigate by the voice. I recently bought an old TomYom Rider device which has a much brighter screen but I really prefer the IGO software as it is far easier to customise

Return to Program (+data.zip+branding.zip+license)
