Could you please clarify whether I understand correctly that it is enough simply to copy these files into the POI folder on the device, and the points will then be displayed on the maps and become available for searching? Or do they first need to be patched using the program you linked to above?

What should be done with the files that have the .unl extension?

Most times it is enough to decrypt with PGFT or [Please Register or Login to download file] but some devices require an alternative approach the same as Cyclops Safety Camera .gpi files, try generating the unlock code with the original details I've included FID ,PID etc, if that does not work try changing the details with PGFT quick ID change to 700 and generate the unlock code as below.
