I've spent all day reading this forum LOL. Picking up various bits of information on upgrading/changing/modding my TomTom devices. So then I took the plunge. So would anyone mind if I check the outputs? Are they the best combinations? Here we go...

TTGO.BIF:
DeviceName=TomTom GO 740 LIVE
DeviceVersionHW=GO 740 LIVE
BootLoaderVersion=55250
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9205
ApplicationVersion=547817.1
CurrentMap=United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland 875_3675

Not Found...

So I put 9205 on there (I believe this is the navicore) - but then I read that there is a newer one. I guess I made the mistake of believing the larger number was the newest version.

I've also managed to get the same config on a Go520 (output below) - but notice that the bootloader is different.

So how does these configurations compare to what people would see as the 'ultimate' configuration?

It has turned out to be an interesting learning curve.

There is no ultimate configuration.
The best working Navcore is always what Home offers you.
Other Navcores can work well on a device, but there are no guarantees.

Good is always what runs runs well on the device and gives the user the options he/she needs - that can be a V8 Navcore too ;)

1. You did OK, EXCEPT you used the wrong map. Had you checked the compatibility chart in All New Maps 875.XXXX post 1, you would have seen that 3675 maps have NO features. You want the full featured 3613 version.
2. Nope, 9.205 is fine.
3. If the devices boot OK, then don't worry about the bootloaders being different.

Thanks for taking the time out to reply. I took my device for a spin last night in the car and it seemed to be fine. Saw some isses where it was restarting randomly every now and again with the odd freeze but on my return journey it seemed to sort itself out.

My next batch of learning is working out which map is the best to put on the machine.

Hi,

I looked at that diagram and at first glace it was gobblegook to me. I'll look again. Having looked at what the 3613 map offers I see there are others with the same features in the diagram - 3636 for example. What is the difference between them two? (is it just a case of 3636 not being released for the UK?)

There are different versions for different model TTs. 3613 is used by the majority of the devices.
