Using Saved Tracks on a Dezl 780?

Thu Jun 04, 2026 2:12 am

Hello All,

Anyone know if it's possible to put saved tracks (.gpx files) on a Dezl 780LMT-S and have them displayed on the map?

I managed to get my custom waypoints (.gpx) sort of working by putting them in mtp://Garmin_dezl780_0000ecd35337/Internal Storage/Garmin/.System/GPX/ (plugged into a Linux system), but they won't work if just putting them in mtp://Garmin_dezl780_0000ecd35337/Internal Storage/Garmin/GPX/, they must be in the .System/GPX/ folder.
They can then be used ok as destinations when navigating.
They're found under the Favourites category when tapping the 'Where To' icon.

First couple of times I started it up after adding them it showed big ugly icons for each one, which was only interchangeable with other big ugly icons via the settings, creating a custom icon doesn't seem to work.
Not sure what I did but now when I run it the waypoints are still usable but no icons appear
I was trying to get them to show as a small city dot like the Montana's etc. do.

Got my custom maps to display ok by naming them gmapprom2.img & gmapprom3.img and putting them inside the .System folder.

I can't find anything online, in the user manual or anywhere else with regards to displaying custom track files but I'm wondering if there's some naming format like that that'll allow the .gpx track files to be displayed, or whether they have to be put somewhere specific, or maybe converted to another format like .fit or something?

I've tried the folders /Garmin/.System/GPX/ and /Garmin/GPX/ and they don't show, though perhaps if they were the right format and stored wherever the Travel History gets saved they might work?

Thanks
