Help with Mapsource to upload maps to Garmin.

Hi Guys,

I have updated my Garmin on numerous occasions, thanks to the wonderful work you all are doing . I downloaded the City Navigator Southern Africa NT 2014.30 maps, all of them in that thread when the first one did not work, but for the life of me cannot get MapSource to see the map.

I then upgraded my software to the following:

MapSource v6.16.3 - Patched
BaseCamp 4.2.4
MapInstall 4.0.4 patched

Now MapSource does not even see my previous updates, it used to before I did all the upgrades, now it shows no maps Did some file/program go corrupt on my pc or am I missing some software.

First off all: Mapsource is an outdated program since 2010!
You should use BaseCamp/MapInstall for current maps.

I guess your problems, because your previous MapSource version was probably very old (older than v6.15.11).

I recommend to clean your system from all Garmin installations:

1. uninstall MapSource (and possibly all other Garmin programs)
2. delete registry path

   Code:

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Garmin\

   and

   Code:

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Garmin\

3. if you need MapSource really, reinstall v6.16.3 - all gmap versions of Garmin maps in following path will be shown:

   Code:

   C:\ProgramData\GARMIN\Maps

4. reinstall all Family versions of Garmin maps in Windows registry. If no setup or batch file available, use MapSetToolKit for installation of this maps.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! That directory was empty, I just copied the maps there and all is fine
