My Garmin Nuvi 2447 is not recognized by my PC?

Hello, I'm having trouble connecting my Garmin Nuvi 2447 GPS to my PC. I've tried three different cables, including the original one, but nothing works! Do you have any ideas? Thanks.

Was it recognised by your PC before ?
If not you should install [Please Register or Login to download file] and try again.
The USB port on older devices can get loose contacts over time and can need repair. If your device is powering up using the Garmin Power cable and you are updating the EU maps with an SD card it's most probably just worth leaving it alone.

I have a recent PC and everything is up to date. All my USB ports work, including the front ones. Downloading the drivers didn't change anything. Before, I could connect my device, but now, when I plug it in, I get the following message: "The connected cable is not compatible with traffic information." Does it just charge afterward ?
Finally, I used 3 different cables. Do you think the problem could be with the cables ? Thanks.

The device is not connecting to the PC in Mass Storage Mode or Media Transfer Protocol as it should do when using a USB to PC connection. Rather it seems to be mistakenly detecting the USB cable as a TMC cable, like is usually used in your vehicle's 12V socket. It's likely still charging the battery of course.
So rather than the cables being the problem it's far more likely your device is malfunctioning in some way and that could be a 'soft' or 'hard' failure. Try first to reset it. or better still clear it's non-volatile memory via the hidden menu behind the Speedometer: View Map > Speed > Press and Hold the Speedo reading for ~5 seconds then a Diagnostics Page will appear. Press "Developer Info" the scroll down to "Nonvol Statistics", press the 3 horizontal menu bars and clear nonvol. Be aware clearing nonvol will remove your favorites such as home location and remove all recent history etc., basically returning it to factory settings and requiring it to be set up again from scratch.
If that doesn't help then you may want to open it up to re-flow the USB socket solder connections. If still not connecting after that, then almost certainly motherboard component is likely blown.
