Get quick fix without Home

Tue May 08, 2012 10:55 am

Here are some things to download the latest quickfix data without the need to start TT Home.
If you are not sure what GPS chip your device uses: Press Reset, turn on, as soon as the TT logo appears press and hold the power button - a system screen will appear that shows your device infos.
Line 9 after GPS type shows your GPS chip.

1: for One V3/V4, OneXL, XL30, ?? GOx40/x50, One IQ, XL IQ - Global Locate Chip :
4165

2: for GOx00/x10/x20/x30, OneV1/V2 - Sirf3 Chip :
4166

Unpack the corresponding archive to the folder "Ephem" on your device/SD.
If QuickFix never worked for you using Home a .tlv file is included, you don't have to overwrite yours if you already have one.

Simply start the quick fix program for the download, weget must be allowed to download so set it to allow in your firewall.

I have no program for the sirf2 chip but all quick fix data can also be downloaded manually :

Today i have changed the map on my TT-one XL to the Europe Truck 890.4266 in combination with NC 8.562 and it all went well exept for one thing; it only found one satelite, and it took about 60 minutes to find it.
Therefore i have taken the liberty of downloading and installing your quick fix and then i updated it again with TT-home. Now it's connected to 5 satelites and spotted another 5, so i think you can say it's working splenditly. Please accept my eternal gratitude.

I have used Downunder's excellent QuickFix files on several different models now (oneXL,Go930,940,550) - all working extremely well with fast GPS fix from boot. Much faster than previous fixes.

Many thanks.

The programs worked well on my GO920. But they did not work for the Start XXL IQ Routes Edition. It says the GPS is GL2 BCM4750 FFFF. Does it belong to the Sirf2 chip?

The 920 GPS_chipset is a Sirf III. The XXL IQ Routes Edition GPS_chipset is a GL2.

Downunder's recommendation is spot on!! Use Global_LocateQuickFix.rar

Thanks to Downunder35m and tendriver, Global_LocateQuickFix worked beautifully for the Start XXL IQ Routes model. :gamer::gamer::gamer:

More Satellites, and a Fix within 30 seconds.

Does QuickGPSFix work "forever more" or does it need to be updated periodically? If so, how often?

Thanks

Thanks

TT issues QuickGPSFix updates daily thru TTHome. I update my unit before every use.

Thank you for the information. I am wondering if someone here has created a script that can be run under Windows (batch) to retrieve directly the file, unpack it and copy it in the right directory.
I am thinking about developing a small script that can be copied directly inside the GPS and can be run from the GPS when connected to the computer.
That would avoid installing TT home on separate computers.

And also I am wondering what does the function 'Update QuickGpsFix" from FastActivate do?

The same as Home. So you don,t have to make a script you can Use FastActivate.
In principal the use of quickgps fix once a week is enough. If you drive every day with your TomTom a quickgps fix is not nessecairy at all.

Hi

I've installed fastactivate on a new computer. But when I launched the "quick fix" for the forst time, I've chosen "global local" instead of "sirf star". Now it doesn't ask me to choose again. So how can I change the "global local" to "sirf star" ? In other words how to reset fastactivate ?

Thank you.
