Tomtom and problems with Kitkat

Postby Downunder35m » Sat Nov 30, 2013 12:50 am

I just updated to Android 4.4 and noticed Tomtom stopped working.
Same when I try a fresh install, the program pops open and closes without any error message.
Not sure if it is related to updating or if there is a general problem with Kitkat, can anyone confirm or deny these problems?

So just to be clear and provide all details:
My Nexus7 (razor), Gen2 model, Android 4.4 Kitkat, simply refused to accept Tomtom.
All attempts to get it working failed until I did not copy the tomtom folder on the device first.
When the APK installs it does not create a tomtom folder on the emulated SD card.
Adding the folder manually causes TT to crash right after starting, although without the tomtom folder I get an error before the app exits.
After a lot of thinking and checking folders I realised that the folder is being created in the data/data folder in the root of the device.
As I don't like installing stuff there by hand I went the easy way, so in case you can't get TT working on Kitkat:
Install the APK and copy the tomtom folder to the emulated SD as usual,
now (with root rights, check for "root explorer") copy the .metadata.xml from the "tomtom/com.tomtom.Country name" folder on the SD to the folder "data/data/com.tomtom.country name" in the root of your device.
Tomtom will now work as it should.

  1. That would not be very easy: it's almost 4,5 Gb, with maps from Western Europe and several other countries
  2. All content is available on this site
  3. Since you don't ask for a corresponding APK, it won't work
  4. Specific *.dct files can be generated with Deltafox keygen
  5. I'm not on Kitkat, but on 4.2.1. I just referred to Tomtoms release notes for v1.3.2
  6. So, which problem would you like to solve? :004:
