Postby Henko » Mon Jun 02, 2014 1:05 pm

I bought myself a brand new Berling TS-8177G
I installed IGO primo 2.4.
Looks perfekt, but it won^t find any sattelites at all :022:
Also tried a new GPS antenna..... same result.
Can somebody please help me out here ?
I tried everything i know, but still no result.
Must have something to do whit the GPS port and the baud, i would say.
I googled a lot, but i realy don`t know anymore.
I just want my navi to work

Welcome to Navitotal!

Do you know your device's port and baud?
In the root of your program there is sys.txt file. Edit it using notepad and look for "port" and/or "baud".
If you have this lines, change the values of them to your device's values.
If you don't have this lines, add this after the [gps] tag:
port=1 [put your value]
baud=4800 [put your value]

Save the file, delete the "save" folder from the root of your program, turn off the device for 1 minute, and turn on.
Go outside under clear sky and wait for full satellites signal. On first time it can take a few minutes. Give it the time, be patient.

I asume it's WinCE?
Run this utility on it:
This board requires you to be registered and logged-in to view hidden content.

Extract it to a folder on your device or SDcard, and run the "WinCE Device Information.exe". It will give you the needed values and more.

I'm interested. What are the port and baud for your device?
If it ain't broke don't fix it!
ALWAYS BACK-UP YOUR FILES/FOLDERS BEFORE MAKING EDITING CHANGES!

Please do NOT post any thanks. Simply press the hand icon with the "thumb up" which is the thank you button.

Changing the sys.txt file, requires to delete the "save" folder, opposed changing settings with the menu. It is also recommended to turn off the device when doing this, so "junk" will not remain in memory.

One more question:

As i told you, IGO is now working on my device.
The only thing i don`t understand is that the way i see it the TMC function is not working.
Do you have any ideas how to get this working ?

Hello,

I like that tool, very useful. Is there something that tells what the TMC port and baud rate are? I'm guessing mine is Port 1 and 4800. My Magellan has TMC, but I hate the interface. Would like to get TMC working in Primo.

I don't think this device is TMC capable, at least not at his own. (no TMC build in)
Of course I could be wrong. What does the device manual say about TMC and TMC antenna?

Nothing at all about TMC :022:
Is there any way to get this to work ??
Like the unit .... but without TMC in my opinion it`s not a proper Navi.
Please tell me what to do now ?

Maybe if you could add an external TMC antenna ???
Don't ask me if your device supports it. I am no device encyclopedia. :bs_quesexclaim:
