Micro SD card ID? (CID)

Hi all, Can anyone please explain to me or provide a link on how to obtain the ID number (CID) of a Micro SD card. Can this be achieved without using a gps device?

You need a PCI card reader to do this (Not a USB one!) + software, and then it's hit and miss, I have a 2GB micro SD card that was "Locked" by a Nokia phone and i need the same hardware to "Unlock" it.

Use Everest Ultimate v4.60.1500 and you get serial number .

Is that the card serial number or the CID security number? They're two different things.

Its serial number ; i just check with unlock generator software ; it`s not CID security number .

I never installed Everest Ultimate v4.60.1500 but it looks similar to the freeware application Speccy. (By the author of CCleaner)

I use CCleaner ,very good free software ; Everest looks similar with Speccy, indeed .

This only right answer... not anymore else....

you can change your card serial number with USB reader, but it is not same as garmin see it ? (works with some winCE devices only....)

I recall seeing a gadget that could read/format the protected area of the card where the serial/CID number and hardware encryption key was stored, but i can't remember what it was called, so therefore i can't find it.

Thanks for the replies folks... Does the card ID have a set format? i.e 10 numeric characters (as I've read on here)? I ask because my garmin device shows either 8 or 9 characters for the card i.d...

I use ReadCID, run as administrator, Windows 7 Ultimate x86, Asus laptop with card reader; Card ID is in hexa 62018ffe and translate in dec with Windows 7 calculator :16442 69566; use in Nuvi 660 and work ok .

The other biggy is that it only works when the SD Card is plugged into a reader that is attached directly to the pci bus. If USB is involved in the chain, then the DeviceIOControl messages go to the USB host controller, and it doesn't understand them.
