Hello,

I have updated the software and map on Medion Gopal E3240 (purchased from Aldi few years ago) for a friend and uk postcode was not working
After searching online and reading various posts, I learnt that the maps after Q4 2009 do not support full UK postcode.
So my friend asked me to put the unit back to its original state as he would rather have the full postcode than newer map!!!?????
I cleaned all and flashed memory and installed gopal PE5 and UK maps 2008
but postcode still not working
can someone please give me some help as this is driving me crazy

All the versions of gopal you can get free from the internet don't include postcodes, you must use the discs that came with the device to restore the device.

However installing software like iGO isn't that hard, and that'll give you regular updates for the maps + other content, and postcodes.

I have been reading on this (installing IGO)
Only thing I have not yet managed to find out is, if there is a way to make it seamless (igo start automatically without need of user starting it)
Also I have read about an unlock shell, but can't find it, as most links are dead

You can make it start automatically with a bit of file editing/renaming.

You will only need an unlock shell if you want to run more than one application, or want access to the devices filesystem.

I managed to install igo primo 2.4-9.6.13 , with maps and POI and its up and running , although not figured out how to make is autorun.
this one doesn't have postcodes either!!! or its me doing something wrong

For postcodes...

Enter the full postcode in the City/Town box with a space in between, ie,

AA11 1AA

I'll have to dig out a link, there was one around here somewhere.

If it was me, I'd keep it on the card so map updates are easier.
