No it is not. Get Mapsource, download locked map, unlock it, learn how to handle maps and make your own mix and match. That simple... It requires some brain and not constant tweeting and facebooking...

Hi all, please can you help me unlocking. I download "ms lock", Install .msi and open Mapsource. Navigator North America is locked! I can't find unlocker at any City navigator folder. Please can you tell me where it is or if I need to download other file? Thank you so much!!

Hi! Please find attache this software
This board requires you to be registered and logged-in to view hidden content.


You have to copy it at the directory where the Mapsource had installed your map usually should be something like this
c:\ProgramData\Garmin\Maps\City Navigator....
When you will start the software it will start unlocking all the maps on the sub directories it will take some minutes
After you may use the map on Mapsource or create maps to install on devices without the need any other unlocking.
I hope that i helped you otherwise tell me!

Hello,

I apologize for what is probably a repetitive question, but I have searched the forums and can't find the precise answer. I've done several updates in the past so am quite familiar with the process, but this same question always plagues me: which JCV file for my unit?

I have an older Nuvi 42, and would like to install the most complete JCV file available for this model. Space is not a limitation. I have read elsewhere that the "Large" JCV file will not operate on the "Essential" series such as mine, which leaves the question which is the most complete file that WILL work? I note the file specifying 42XX models, but if I can use a larger file with more JCV points obviously that would be desirable.

Is there a thread someone could point me to that explains exactly what the difference is between "medium", "Split screen", and so on files, and which units are compatible with which file?

Again, I apologize if this has been answered a thousand times. I swear I did search for quite awhile but entering "Nuvi 42" returns an enormous amount of results to sift through.

I doubt it was answered '1000 times'. Unfortunately OP does not specify which JVC is for which unit. That is understandable as it would require a lot of work to find out.
I has Nuvi 755 (really old) so it is hit and miss.
I would suggest downloading all (or most of them) and start trying from the biggest one until you hit one you like and it works the best for you. I test them simulating route from A to B and looking at the pictures...

it is possible to replace only the gmapprom file or do i have to change another folders and files??
