Tried this on my maps&more:

Works almost perfectly as long as you remember to also update poicats.nfs (or you'll get POI icons on the map but no search)
Appears to break voice controls, which I personally see as a pro because the dedicated large button becomes a "Show map" one!

please i want to travel in Europe and this map is important.

Trying to check them on the Android app.

Edit: ok, this is working!
You can use the .maps files for the Android app.

If you install Navigon for the first time on your Android smartphone you'll get the latest maps but they will not be updated on this phone ever unless you buy Fresh Maps, which is expensie. To get the latest maps as in this topic this is the way to do it:

Uninstall Navigon completely, restart your smartphone and install Navigon again.
Install all countries you want to use and make sure it works.
Now close the app.
Overwrite the installed country maps files on your phone using windows explorer.
Restart Navigon.
Now Navigon works with the newest maps.

Look out: do not add new countries, the app will install the old maps again.

Like there is no file to download just a code. Do you have to be a hacker nowadays to do this simple thing or what?

Pardon me for being naive here. I have tomtom XL IQ Routes Edition N14644
App 9.510.1234792.2, OS 8423372039, 4/4/2013
GPS V1.20, Boot 5.5136
UK/ Ireland Maps V840.2562

I want to update maps in my tomtom but I have absolutely no idea how to do it. I have read so many post. But typical codes like root, boot loader, finding the right maps and version literally goes over my head. can someone please be very nice and explain me in simple english and step by step how to update maps please.

I will really really appreciate
