iGO Primo 1.2 and 2.0 Non-TTS AKA "Natural" Voices

Postby Yurbuh Tuggly » Sun Aug 14, 2011 11:31 am

Requirements:
Working Primo 1.2 or Primo 2.0 installation

These are native Primo 1.2/2.0 NON TTS voices in many available languages and dialects.
Non-TTS voices consume far less resources than Text To Speech voices, and are often times the better choice on hardware with limited memory--64MB or less.

Information:
The main differences between TTS and Non-TTS (also called "Natural" voices):
TTS voices say "In 100 meters, turn left onto Main Street."
Natural voices say "In 100 meters, turn left."
TTS voices can use Navteq Driver alerts such as "Soon, railroad crossing with gate." "Pedestian crossing", "Road narrows", etc.
Natural voices are mute to these alerts.
TTS voices can be a bit choppy or robotic at times--especially on systems with less than 128MB of Ram. Natural voices can be smoother and faster.
TTS voices can "read" and synthesize words and sentences on the fly. Natural voices use pre-recorded words and phrases only, and stitch them together into sentences.

Languages included (many come with a multiple choice of character and gender):
BUL
CRO
CZE
DEU
DUT
ENG (AU, UK, and US)
EST
GRE
HUN
LIT
LVA
POL
ROM
RUS
SLO
SRB
SVN
TUR
UKR

For Hebrew Voices, see this post:

Note that all of these are "LUA" voices (as opposed to the older "CSV" voices), and are unlikely to work on versions of Primo prior to version 1.2 (9.2.xxxx) nor any version of iGO 8 or Amigo without some modification to the voice files or program files/voice engines.
Instructions:
Extract the downloaded file on your PC--DO NOT unzip or extract the individual {voice}.zip files!
Place the zipped voice files you want in {Primo Folder}/content/voice on your device or SD Card.
Start Primo and choose the voice in Settings > Sound and Warnings > Voice Language.
