TomTom XL Classic (Won't switch on)

Postby shorty109 » Sat Feb 18, 2017 8:32 pm

Have got a problem with my TT XL (Classic). Power led comes on when USB lead connected. Have checked the SD card and also replaced the SD card, just in-case. Have replaced the battery with a known good one. Does anybody have an idea as to why it won't switch on? It was working fine until 2 weeks ago.

Can you gain access to the device when it is connected to the PC?

When the SD card is plugged into the unit, cannot see it. Can read the SD card outside the TT.

Sounds ominous. You've obviously done a hard reset either by pin hole or holding down the power button for at least 15 seconds? Do you get any action at all such as a BIOS screen or drum sounds like it might be starting up but no screen function?

If no to the above, it could be a number of things, dodgy cable, RAM, charging port...

Hi fredderf, yep tried hard reset. Checked battery and SD card. Used a different USB cable. No BIOS, no drums, nothing on the display. Power led is on but TomTom is not at home :022: Without a spare mobo I think this TT is destined for spares. (Well, you can't win them all) Thanks for your prompt reply
