"Do you have a satellite fix?" means :
Is the device locked to at least 3 satellites? In which case the screen shows your current and exact position on the map.

I am asking because my former device always showed the wrong time (hour of day and date), until the satellite fix was a fact. Then the clock and date were correct.

The map will tell you when you get a fix.

The map screen will change from looking for gps message to your location after it gets a lock.
