nabi;

  • Downloaded file from link( what is that language btw? Russian? )
  • Extracted files using WINRAR
  • Renamed extracted main folder( 8.3.5.##### )to navigation
  • Renamed the igo.exe file to navigation
  • Did NOTHING else
  • Tried it in car radio and = failed( error message below )

At power up it tried to auto load but I got a black screen with the following error message...

iGO 8
Failed to open file:
ui_igo8\400_240\loading.bmp
Exiting application

If I hit the Nav button to try and load it I get the same error. If I hit the SD card button on the touch screen it says no playable files.

My screen resolution is 800_480 not 400_240.

Thank you , but because i can look only the exe file for me has got an hex signature at the end of the exe file of 1C0600426B51964F where 1C060042 is the device specific exe files (tied to the license) and 6B51964F has to do with the version .

As I said I have the common( 3 locations )and icon( 2 locations )folders where you asked if they are. I didn't add them though they were there already after extraction.

I know that, Just check the data.zip and see for yourself what resolutions are in it.
Also see sys.txt.

Do you see 400_240?

I think your device may really be 400*240 for gps purposes, but by a trick the resolution is doubled (or quadrupled : doubled x and double y)

[Please Register or Login to download file] is a multiresolution data.zip. No need to unzip, just replace your data.zip and comment out the x=800 and y=480 lines in sys.txt (remember the semicolon?)

On the 1st thing you had me download...

DATA\ui_ig08 = 800_480 & 480_800( common and icons )
BRANDING\ui_igo8 = 480_272( no common )
No stand alone ui_igo8 folder in the main folder - only in DATA and BRANDING
Nothing anywhere for 400_240

I will try the other download you have given a link for and replace the data zip.

I don't know what you mean about commenting out the resolution( sorry )?

I remember a ; at the start of the previous sys.txt but it wasn't at the interface?

Do I need more resolution folders in the BRANDING folder? What about common?

So you see I uploaded especially for you ;) only 800_480 (and 480_800). don't worry about branding.zip, comes only in one resolution.
Just FYI: Many times a device such as yours will not run navigation software at the "advertised"800-480 resolution--this is often only for movies and other multi-media.

And just repeating: do not unzip the data.zip you are downloading now!

Remember I told you earlier to put a semicolon in front of the folder line in sys.txt? That ; comments out what follows, so I want you to tell iGO (by changing sys.txt) to ignore the given resolution and find out itself.
Oh, and when a save folder is present in the navigation folder, delete it before restarting! Do it every time until iGO runs properly. The save folder saves your settings, but will keep the wrong ones (like 400_240) as well, thus keeps misleading iGO.

Cannot find satellites (patience is a virtue here) or cannot find the GPS chip?

NT

GPS chip , but editing system.ini in save folder and putting

[gps]
port="1"
baud="57600"
devicename_template="VSP%d:"
maximise_baud="0"

now the GPS chip is recognized :)

Well, I added the new DATA.zip, deleted the SAVE folder and I added a ; before the 2 resolution lines in the sys.txt( see below )and it did NOT like that at all. It went screwy! :tease:

This is the sys.txt edit - did I do it riight?

[rawdisplay]
;screen_x=800
;screen_y=480

When it tries to auto load or I hit the Nav button a very slow lightening of the screen starts at the bottom and works part way up before the ASTRIUM brand logo screen appears like I get when the radio 1st starts up and when the OE SD card is booting( the IGO one appears in chas521's version and in the older 8.3.4 SD card the radio seller sent me that works ). No text or loading bar or anything comes up. After a few seconds the screen sort of flashes( that slow lightening starts again is what it is I think ). It just goes and goes and goes. I had to pull the SD card to clear it which of course gives an error( navigation.exe something...).

No go.

Ok, I got brave.

I removed the ; in front of the 2 resolution lines and tried it again. BINGO! :yahoo:

So adding the new DATA.zip file did solve the issue with nabi's version.

Couple things. NO sound and NO satelite signal. Also, I looked on the working versions I have and on the older 8.3.4 it only has 800_480 resolution in the DATA.zip file( BRANDING.zip won't open ??? ). The 8.3.5 version has multiple resolutions in DATA.zip but only 800_480 in BRANDING.zip.

It does load however.

Great :thumbup:
Excuse me for going to bed now. I am exhausted, just staying up for you. It's long pas midnight here and in fact I should have gone sleeping more than a few hours ago.
Good night and good luck. Chas is around and can help further.

I am very sorry you stayed up so late. I didn't even think about the time difference. I would have waited until tomorrow. Go get some sleep! Thank you for the help.
