Correct map update procedure

Postby spanishdude » Thu May 29, 2014 5:29 pm

Please forgive an old man who´s memory is going.

I have a new computer and have installed Basecamp/Mapsource.
Use mapsource to create mapsets.

Trying to install CNENT 2014.40 update using msi update installer.
When I run it it asks for location for maps ..... where do I put it ?
Have tried several locations and installs wherever I put it.
However , map does not show in Mapsource and Basecamp will not start.

Do I need an original map before I can update it ?
If so , how do I install one ?

Or is it just the case of installing in correct directory ?

Can some kind soul provide an idiots guide ?

Thanx in advance.

You don't really need to do the full install. Look in the pack for the gmap folder [City Navigator Europe NT 2014.40.gmap]. Copy and paste the gmap to your system drive according to your OS:

XP in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\GARMIN\Maps
Vista, Win7/8/8.1 in C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Maps

It should be visible in MapSource and BaseCamp/MapInstall.

Buddyboy

Thanx.

Funny one this.
Had to copy maps to 2 different folders.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\Maps only showed up in Mapsource.
Had to copy to Basecamp\Maps to view.

Any reason why?

Thanx again.

Update in case anyone else has similar problem.

Had to copy MDR folder into Gmap folder to be able to build mapsets.
