Packard Bell Compasseo 620 map folder

Postby aggesaks » Fri Aug 05, 2011 9:15 am

Hi All

I know this is a rather old unit, but still it's nice to have more than one unit :)
I have updated my Compasseo 620 to Destinator 9, and the unit boots fine, and seems to work, but displays "no maps found" when I try to choose the map. I guessing I am simply just putting the maps in the wrong folder.
Suppose I want the map for Iberia, where should that be placed on the SD card? Under \Destinater\Iberia or just all the data files under \Destinator or \Iberia?
I am new to updating this unit, so I am struggling here :think:
Perhaps I need to change something in the files on the GPS before it works?
Is Destinator 9 compatible with my unit or...?

Thanks in advance

I do not know Destinator, but AFAIK the maps would go in \destinator\iberia

Better late than never.....And if you still got the unit?

I've been struggling myself to get destinator 9 to run from the Compasseo when i had the mapfolder on the SD card. So i had to try to run the whole thing from the SD card and after some configurations i got it to work!

Connect compasseo to the pc with active sync
and then explore the compasseo and remove the destinator folder under \DestinatorApps\
the only folders that should remain is DShell and slideplayer

Then you have to edit the following ini files on the compasseo (since you can't do that with active sync explorer copy
them to the desktop, edit them and copy back to compasseo)
(Only the parts that has been edited is highlighted)

First find \DestinatorApps\DShell\Schema\SCHEMA.ini copy to desktop and open with notepad.
Scroll down to [DestinatorBtn] and rename the line Action=\DestinatorApps\Destinator\Destinator.exe
to Action=\Storage Card\DestinatorApps\Destinator\Destinator.exe
Close, save and copy back to compasseo overwriting the old one.

An then the same with \DestinatorApps\DShell\DSetting.ini that should look like this when your done editing:

[General]
Navigator=\Storage Card\DestinatorApps\Destinator
Visual=\Storage Card\DestinatorApps\Destinator\Language
VisualIni=\Storage Card\DestinatorApps\Destinator\UserData\DestinatorLanguage.ini
Voice=\Storage Card\DestinatorApps\Destinator\Voice
VoiceIni=\Storage Card\DestinatorApps\Destinator\UserData\DestinatorVoice.ini

And then \DestinatorApps\DShell\DShell.ini that should look like this:

[General]
Navigation=\Storage Card\DestinatorApps\Destinator\DestCore.dll
HelloSound=\DestinatorApps\DShell\Schema\CLICK.wav
LaunchSound=\DestinatorApps\DShell\Schema\CLICK.wav

[Run]
Destinator=\Storage Card\DestinatorApps\Destinator\Destinator.exe

[RunOnce]
DestinatorDebug=\Storage Card\DestinatorApps\Destinator\Destinator.exe -D
DestinatorSettings=\Storage Card\DestinatorApps\Destinator\Destinator.exe -S 39

Then you are done with the compasseo:-)

And then we are ready for the SD card (quickest with card reader, but you can copy via active sync with the card installed
in the compasseo, but it runs slow)

Make the following dir on the sd card: DestinatorApps\Destinator and copy all content of destinator v9 to this folder.
Copy your desired maps to the same folder.

Then the last and final edit
Edit \Storage Card\DestinatorApps\Destinator\UserData\GPSTMC.ini

Port= 1
Baudrate= 4800
Protocol= 2
Save and we are done.

Shut of the compasseo and put in the sd card, turn on and voila you should be able to use Destinator v9.
If you turn on and off with the battery switch on the back of the compasseo you have to reprogram the unit again.
But you can use the reset button without any problems.
